"Tengo un interés a largo plazo en la alquimia y las ciencias filosóficas y cómo nos ayudan a entender el paisaje y nuestro lugar dentro de él, particularmente la manera en que las etapas metafísicas de la alquimia: nigredo (negrura), albedo (blancura), citrinitas (amarillez) y rubredo (rojez) pueden aparecer en el ambiente natural. Busco los lugares silenciosos donde estas etapas se hagan evidentes y colecciono muestras de agua de lugares y climas específicos (inundaciones, lluvia, granizo, rocío, escarcha y nieve derretida) y las mezclo con tinta para ilustrar mis hallazgos". "I have a long-term interest in alchemy and the philosophical sciences and how they help us to understand landscape and our place within it, particularly how the traditionally held metaphysical stages of alchemy: nigredo (blackness), albedo (whiteness), citrinitas (yellowing) and rubredo (redness) might appear within the natural environment. I look for the quiet places where these stages become apparent and collect samples of site and weather specific waters (flood, rain, hail, dew, frost and snowmelt) and combine with writing ink to illustrate my findings".
